The Model Muscle Car Project Introduction

I've just moved from North Carolina to Atlanta, GA leaving friends behind to start a new job. Since I'm new to town and don't know anyone yet, I've decided to start a new hobby to fill some time. I love classic American muscle cars and since I can't afford to collect the real thing, I've decided to build model versions of all the cars I'd like to own and I'm going to blog about building each one of them. I plan on sharing my experience building each model by documenting each stage of the building process with pictures and descriptions of everything I'm doing from opening the box to the completed model.

My older brother David taught me how to build models when I was a kid. We built several models, mostly military aircraft from world war II bombers and fighters to jet fighters. I had a poster hanging on my wall of all the most famous military aircraft and we attempted to build model versions of each aircraft that was represented on the poster. This included a B-17 Flying Fortress, a B-29 Super Fortress, a SR-71 Blackbird, F-14, F-15, and F-16 fighters. When we were finished, David would hang them from my bedroom ceiling with fishing wire and it was a very cool bedroom for a 3rd grader. This experience definitely influenced my love of model building and whenever I attempted to build a model on my own, I always tried to build them to the quality that David achieved when he built the aircraft models.

I would have loved for David to be involved in this project, but unfortunately, David passed away from cancer a few years ago. I hope that these models I am going to build will be a nice tribute to the memory of building those model airplanes with my brother all those years ago.

I've built several model cars over the years, but I haven't build one in over a decade. My biggest problem I have that makes the quality of the models I build suffer, is my lack of patience, so I will have to continuously fight the urge to rush the project. It's my goal to make these builds the highest quality possible.

Right now I have six cars I plan on building in this order:
1) 1969 Ford Torino Talladega
2) 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429
2) 1969 Dodge Charger R/T
4) 1967 Pontiac GTO
5) 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge
6) 1967 Shelby 427 Cobra

I will start on the Torino Talladega this week.

So, that's the story behind why I am doing this, I hope you enjoy following the progress as much as I will enjoy sending the updates.
